Xiaomi Mi 5 may feature Snapdragon 810 Chip

After so many rumors, it seems Xiaomi is ready to launch Mi 5. This is all happening suddenly that we didn’t expect. Xiaomi has posted a teaser image on its official Weibo account that indicates their intention. The teaser image is an invitation for an event that will be held on 19 October. Xiaomi would probably announce long awaited Mi 5.

We posted an article 2 days ago where Xiaomi Mi 5 has been rumored to come handy in the price of Mi 4 (around 2000 Chinese Yuan for 16GB Variant). We cannot expect Snapdragon 820 in this price whereas Xiaomi Sales Mi Note Pro for 3000 Chines Yuan that features Snapdragon 810. On top of that Qualcomm is not launching Snapdragon 820 in 2015, and it expected to arrive in early 2016. So Xiaomi had no other choice to choose a different chip, but what will they choose is a secret?

Why we think Xiaomi Mi 5 may have Snapdragon 810?

Almost all of us expected Xiaomi to use Mediatek Helio X20 (if not Snapdragon 820). However, the announcement date of Mi 5 makes us doubtful. Mediatek officially announced (via its official website) that Mediatek Helio X20 will be launched in December 2015. If Xiaomi launches Mi 5 on 19 October, we don’t think they would really use that chip.

Xiaomi already have one device (Mi Note Pro) that features snapdragon 810, but Mi 5 may have little upgrade, like Finger Print Sensor, improved camera etc.. Helio X10 could also be used, but we don’t expect Xiaomi to do this with its premium smartphone (Mi 5), and there could only be one reason to do that; heat issue with snapdragon 810. If they don’t use Mediatek, price will rise, and it may cost minimum 3000 Chinese Yuan (around $475). Well, Xiaomi could also follow Meizu path and choose Exynos 7420, just like they did with Meizu Pro 5. This is the best chip that we can find in any Android Smartphone
