Gionee Elife S8 goes official with Force Touch & Live Wallpaper
Update : This model is known as Gionee S8 (not Elife S8)
Gionee has finally released its Elife S8 model, and the device has brought some new features. Gionee Elife S8 features full metal body just like we expected. Device is 7mm thick and weighs 147.2 grams.
Gionee Elife S8 Technical Specifications and features
Gionee Elife S8 features a 5.5 inches Full HD Display (1920 x 1080 pixels), 4GB RAM, 64GB ROM plus MicroSD card to expand up to 200GB, Finger Print Scanner, 16-megapixel rear camera with f/1.8 aperture, Laser AutoFocus, LED Flash, and 8-megapixel front camera that features 1/4″ sensor size. It runs Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 OS on Amigo 3.2 UI.
Gionee has brought Elife S8 with great specs, but they pushed many users away going to Mediatek’s Mid-range Chipset. Gionee Elife S8 features Octa-core 1.9 GHz Mediatek Helio P10 (MT6755) CPU and Mali-T860MP2 GPU. Even it was Mediatek, they should have gone for Helio X20 for such device. Helio P10 is even worse than Helio X10 as far as multi-core performance is concerned, but in single-core they are almost equal.
Gionee Elife S8 supports 2 SIM cards, and it allows to use 2 WhatsApp or 2 WeChat on the same device for 2 SIM cards. This is something new that you can’t find in any other smartphone without any tweaks.
3D Touch, Live Wallpapers, Edge Touch
According to FirstPost who got their hands on Gionee Elife S8 reported that it’s Force Touch feature is much likely iPhone 6s 3D touch. You can press little harder on camera to bring up options, and pressing on wallpapers also make it animates. However, they mentioned the animation for its Live Wallpaper is not smooth, and it breaks a lot.
Gionee Elife S8 Price
Gionee Elife S8 will be sold for 449 Euros (around $495).
A smartphone with Helio P10 chip isn’t worth paying $495 when a smartphone, like Redmi Note 3 costs $182 only with Snapdragon 650 CPU and Adreno 530 GPU. Even Redmi Note 3 has 3GB RAM, but it will perform much better compared to 4GB RAM with Helio P10 CPU.
