Alibaba Video Streaming Service is officially launched
Long rumored Alibaba Video Streaming service is live now. The Chinese company has managed to launch Netflix-like video service that serves with US TV shows, Chinese and Foreign movies.
Some of the Smart TVs got Alibaba’s TBO (Tmall Box Office) after the software update. TBO is available for paid subscribers only. The monthly subscription fee for unlimited video streaming service is 39 Chinese Yuan ($ 6.14), or you can save some when you pay together for whole year 365 Chinese Yuan ($ 57.42). The payment can be made using smartphone via Alipay. You need to scan the QR Code and follow the instruction.
Rest of the TV services or programs would remain as it is. Free programs/channels are still free, this subscription fee is applicable for Alibaba’s TBO only.
Alibaba Video Streaming option (TBO) has appeared itself after update, but the official announcement has not been made. Alibaba was contacted by TechInAsia, and they replied;
An Alibaba Group spokeswoman says, “The Tmall Box Office is in a beta launch phase and it has been rolled out on certain models of the Tmall Box [a set-top box that launched in July 2013 alongside the smart TV OS].
