The Japanese company Sony Mobile has already launched Android 4.4.2 KitKat updates for all high-end devices that deserve this update. The deployment has been initiated to several Xperia terminals worldwide, including the top smartphones. However, it has happened that some mid-range terminals have not yet been able to get this update. We refer to the Sony Xperia SP, Sony Xperia U, Sony Xperia TX and Sony Xperia V. Below, we summarize what is the status and schedule updates for the equipment listed according to the information leaked through the support pages and official plans update provided by Sony.

Sony Xperia SP

The Sony Xperia SP was introduced in March 2013, so we are not talking about a recent device. And although it seems that Sony Mobile is interested in upgrading this device to Android 4.4.2 KitKat, but right now it is still running through the old version of the OS, Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. Some European carriers including Orange, are releasing an update incorporating changes in the build number from 12.1.A.1.205 to 12.1.A.1.207. For now, Sony support page have no data to confirm the arrival of this update immediately. In fact, what is stated is that the phone is still under investigation to determine whether the update to Android 4.4.2 KitKat may be appropriate or not for the model. Regulatory support for the Sony Xperia SP expires in October 2014 , the firm should manifest as soon as possible to test the KitKat updates.

Sony Xperia T and Sony Xperia TXxperia t and xperia tx

The Sony Xperia T and Sony Xperia TX came in the market in September 2012, so Sony Mobile no longer needs to provide support with new version updates. Both phones hit the market running standard Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, but later upgraded with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and the build numberĀ  9.2.A.1.205 . At present, it appears that the company is studying the possibility of launching the Android 4.4 KitKat updates, but as I have indicated, the period covered by the manufacturer for the implementation of such packages firmware is 18 months. Thus, it would be a surprise if Sony Xperia T and Sony Xperia TX get this update.

Sony Xperia V

After its launch in November 2012 , the Sony Xperia V has received a couple of important updates. It received Android 4.1 update in January 2013, and just a month later also received Android 4.3 Jelly Bean updates. Just like Sony Xperia T and Sony Xperia TX, it seems that Sony Mobile is also considering whether to upgrade this device to Android 4.4 KitKat or not. Taking into account that the support software for this device expired in June 2014 , it would not be strange that Sony depart this phone from its update plan.
