Microsoft sold 8.6 million Lumia phones in the first quarter:
Microsoft has announce the financial result of the first quarter 2015. So today I am here with Microsoft Q1 2015 Financial Result. During the first quarter the company has made $21.7 billion and made profit of profit of $4.980 billion (4,985 million USD). Microsoft also indicates that the sales have gone up by 6%, but profit has fallen by 12% compared to the previous year. The company tried to show the good side that it has sold 8.6 million Lumia phone which has gone up by 18%, and Microsoft Surface business that has grown by 44% in the first quarter of 2014.
Microsoft explain that there are various reasons for the drop and one of them is to integrate Nokia in its business structure which had the cost around 190 million dollars. The company has refused to provide the information on specific sales figure of Microsoft Surface devices, but just mentioned the sales growth of 44% (713 million USD increment).
The other dark side is the gaming console sale. Xbox sales fell 24% and sold around 1.6 million units compared to the same period last year when they sold around 2 million units. Microsoft Office sales has dropped by 41%, but has managed to get more customer for Office 365 what Microsoft provides as licence basis and users pay each month or year. Around 12.4 million users subscribed for Office 365 which is 35% more compared to the last year over the same period. Windows PC business has also dropped by 22%. Microsoft Q1 2015 financial result can’t be considered so good, but lets hope Windows 10 may bring some good news for the company.
