LG G5 vs Xperia X Performance vs Galaxy S7

Along with other smartphone manufacturers Sony has also joined Snapdragon 820 family. Sony has released its news Xperia X series smartphones. Xperia X series was launched long time back if you remember when Sony has Ericsson name with it. However, it’s something new now. There are three models that sony has announced, Xperia X, Xperia XA and Xperia X Performance. We will compare LG G5 and Galaxy S7 with Xperia X Performance model.

Design

Xperia X Performance : Metal Body, 144.8 x 71.1 x 7.6 mm Dimension, 165 grams weight

Galaxy S7 : Metal Body, 142.4 x 69.6 x 7.9 mm Dimension, 152 grams weight

LG G5 : Metal Body, 149.4 x 73.9 x 7.7 mm Dimension, 159 grams weight

Galaxy S7 has 0.1 inch larger display, but it is little smaller in size, but slightly thicker. Xperia X Performance carries Xperia Z5 like design, but with little improvement. If we compare the look of the design, Xperia X Performance will win. All three models are available in dual-SIM variant as well.

Display

Xperia X Performance features a 5 inches Full HD display. LG G5 and Galaxy S7 features 5.3 and 5.1 inches display respectively, and both features QuadHD resolution. LG G5 and Galaxy S7 also features Always-on display that shows notifications and clock on home screen, and it never sleeps.

When all brands are making smartphones with 2K Display, Xperia is still running behind. However, if you don’t mind 1080 pixels resolution, you may like its compactness.

RAM and Storage

Xperia X Performance is still behind in RAM game. It features 3GB RAM compared to 4GB RAM in case of LG G5 and Galaxy S7.

LG G5 and Xperia X Performance comes with 32GB ROM, and Galaxy S7 gives the users an option to choose either 32GB or 64GB. However, storage options seems to be available for specific locations , because US carriers are taking order for 32GB Galaxy S7 only, and 64GB variant may not be available everywhere. All three models supports MicroSD card, users can expand the storage if needed.

CPU, GPU and OS

All three models feature the same Snapdragon 820 CPU, Adreno 530 GPU, and run Android Marshmallow OS. However, the clock speeds of each devices are little different from each other

Xperia X Performance : quad-core (2 x 2.2 GHz + 2 x 1.6 GHz)

Galaxy S7 : quad-core (2 x 2.15 GHz + 2 x 1.6 GHz)

LG G5 : quad-core (2 x 2.1 GHz + 2 x 1.6 GHz)

Water and Dust Resistant

Xperia X Performance and Galaxy S7 both are water and dust resistant IP68 certified. So these devices wouldn’t die if you submerge them in 1.5 meter deep water for 30 minutes. However, LG G5 doesn’t come with such feature.

Finger Print Scanner

All three models feature Finger Print Scanner. Xperia X performance features it on its side, integrated with Power key. Galaxy S7 has it on its home button on front panel, and LG G5 features on its rear panel.

Battery

Galaxy S7 features a 3000 mAh battery, LG G5 comes with 2800 mAh battery and Xperia X performance features a 2700 mAh battery. LG G5 is the only device that has removable battery, and rest comes with in-built battery. Sony has not mentioned anything about fast charging, but Galaxy S7 and LG G5 supports Qualcomm’s quick charge 3.0 as well as Wireless charging that Xperia model lacks.
