Xiaomi launches Redmi Note 3 and Mi Pad 2

Xiaomi has announced Redmi Note 3 and Mi Pad 2 in the event today. Redmi Note 3 is the same smartphone that was rumored as Redmi Note 2 Pro. Redmi Note 2 was launched 3 months ago, and the Chinese company turned out so fast to launch the next version. Redmi Note 3 comes with huge 4000 mAh battery, but it is only 4 grams heavier compared to Redmi Note 2. We would tell everything we know.

Tech Specs, Redmi Note 3 vs Redmi Note 2

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 is the upgraded version of Redmi Note 2. It is little thicker compared to its predecessor, but this thickness gives much more that users seek in smartphones. In terms of upgrade, Redmi Note 3 features a full metal body, Finger Print Sensor, a huge 4000 mAh battery and 3GB RAM. Redmi Note 3 is available in 2 variant; 2GB RAM with 16GB ROM / 3GB RAM with 32GB ROM. As far as rest of the tech specs are concerned, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 features the same Mediatek Helio X10 chip, PowerVR G6200 GPU, 5-megapixel front shooter, 13-megapixel rear camera, and it also supports 2 SIM cards (both can use 4G network). Redmi Note 3 runs MIUI 7 based on Android Lollipop.

Pricing and release date

Before we go ahead to tell the price, let us remind that Redmi Note 2 was announced for : 16 GB : 899 Chinese Yuan, 32GB : 999 Chinese Yuan.

Redmi Note will cost as follows;

16GB ROM + 2GB RAM :  899 Chinese Yuan (around $141)

32GB ROM + 3GB RAM : 1099 Chinese Yuan (around $172)

16GB variant has the same price tag, but 32GB version costs 100 Chinese Yuan more compared to Redmi Note 2. However, You are getting so much in this price; Metal Body, 1GB addition RAM, Finger Print Sensor, 940 mAh additional battery power etc.. There is no brand that offers this much in such less price.

Redmi Note 3 will be available to order from 27 November in China.

Tech Specs, Mi Pad 2 vs Mi Pad

Mi Pad 2 features metal body and USB Type-C port compared to plastic body and traditional port in its predecessor. Resolution, display size, RAM, Camera and Storage remained the same; 7.9 inches display with 2048 X 1536 pixels, 2GB RAM, 16GB/64GB ROM, MicroSD card slot, 8-megapixel rear and 5-megapixel front camera.

Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 features less powerful battery; 6190 mAh compared to 6700 mAh in Mi Pad. Battery is thinner because the thickness of Mi Pad 2 is only 6.95 mm compared to 8.5 mm in Mi Pad. However, Xiaomi claims that Mi Pad 2 will run longer than Mi Pad, and this could be because of the system optimization.

Xiaomi Mi Pad was launched Nvidia Tegra K1 Processor, but Mi Pad 2 is quite different in terms of Chipset. Mi Pad 2 features 64-bit Quad-core 2.24 GHz Intel Atom X5-Z8500 CPU based on 14nm FinFET tech and Intel HD Graphic.

Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 will run MIUI 7, but users can also buy a Windows 10 variant that is available with 64GB ROM only. So it’s not dual-boot as it was rumored, but a separate tablet that comes with Windows 10 OS.

Price and Release Date

Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 can be ordered in China from 27 November. 16GB Variant will cost 999 Chinese Yuan (around $157), and 64GB variant with Android/Windows 10 OS will be sold for 1299 Chinese Yuan (around $204).

Mi Pad 2 was expected to be slightly expensive, but it’s cheaper. Mi Pad was priced at 1499 Chinese Yuan for 16GB and 1699 Chinese Yuan for 64GB when it was announced. Mi Pad 2 is expected to receive great response from Mi fans because to great specs and lower price tag.
