New research conducted by the Pew Research Center uncovers that most Americans are not excited by new technologies or technological advances. Some of the things that catches their attention less are commercial drones and genetic selection, as they believe it will be a change for the worse for life. If they use devices called wearable gadgets, half of Americans consider that they have harmful effects.

The research center asked citizens about a wide range of issues on scientific advances, from robotics, bio-engineering, up to ‘futuristic’ chances of teleportation, not only that, but they asked them to assume a position on these functions and how they would affect life.

In general terms, most Americans surveyed believe that technological advaneces have a positive impact on society. For example, assume that in the next 50 years, people who need a new organ can get one that has been grown in laboratories or that robots can make works of art that have no difference with those created by humans.

But at the same time, while waiting for some technological and scientific changes soon to come, there are other issues that cause suspicion or believe they are controversial. For example, 65% of respondents believe that everything will get worse if the robots begin to care for the elderly and the sick.

Another 63% believe that it will also be a change for the worse in life if permission is given to commercial drones to fly over most of the airspace in the USA, as only 48% of respondents would be willing to take a ride in a car without a driver, one of the technologies that are investigating big companies like Google and analysts believe will revolutionize the world of driving and transportation.

53% believe that it will be something bad implants or “wearables” are used to consider ” that constantly display information about the world around them, but on the other hand around 37% of the society think that it would be better using these apparatus. Well, people have different thought, and this trend will have to evolve to overcome the stigma against mobile technology and applications designed for those devices to convince people that also have useful things,” the researchers said.

“When the cost of collecting information about almost any human interaction tends to zero, the perspective we gain on our activity will change the way we relate to each other, with institutions. Let’s become much more aware of the consequences of our actions, added Patrick Tucker, author of “The Naked Future.”

66% believe that genetic selection, where parents can choose whether they want more athletic or intelligent children, some technologies will make it worse for life. Only 48% of the population would be interested in being in a car that does not need driver. The survey indicates that 78% are not willing to eat meat grown in the lab, such as in vitro burgers $332,000 that Sergey Brin (co-founder of Google) sponsored .

The survey was conducted in February 2014 at 1,001 adults, aged 18 years living in 50 states through telephone calls.
