OnePlus had confirmed earlier to launch another smartphone during christmas, and we probably though it would be another high-end smartphone (Upgraded version of existing OnePlus 2). However, this is not the case. OnePlus is to launch a downgraded budget phone, and it may arrive sooner than we expected.

OnePlus will hold an event on 12 October in Bengaluru (India), and it will be attended by Vikas Agarwal (GM, India), and OnePlus CEO and Founder, Pete Lau. They would probably announce OnePlus X (Also known as OnePlus Mini). It was rumored as OnePlus 2 Mini earlier.

OnePlus X (One Plus Mini) was rumored to arrive with Snapdragon 801, it is the same chip that is found in OnePlus One. However, this rumor doesn’t seem to be true, because OnePlus X was spotted earlier on Antutu as One A2301 model number, and OnePlus X benchmark score was 54311. It makes us believe that OnePlus mini would feature Mediatek Helio X10 MT6795 SoC. It is an octa-core 64-bit chip that would be clocked at 2.0 or 2.2 GHz. This chip is a best suite for mid-range range devices for better performance, Redmi Note 2HTC One M9+ Supreme Camera Edition and many other mobiles already feature this chip.

OnePlus X has recently passed certification via FCC as One E1005 model number, and they submitted the certification detail on their website along with some images. Have a look at the images below to know how OnePlus X (OnePlus Mini) would look like.

In terms of design, OnePlus X looks like iPhone 4s. They have used glass at the back, speakers are located beside the charging port, and they have gone back to MicroUSB 2.0 port from USB Type-C in existing OnePlus 2 model.

Earlier, rendering image of OnePlus Mini had appeared that showed it with Finger Print Sensor at the back, and dual rear camera with dual-LED flash, but that turned out a pure fake. It doesn’t match the design any way we have seen now. The front side of OnePlus X is not clear, but it doesn’t seem to have physical button, and the back side doesn’t have it at all. So don’t expect a Finger Print Sensor with OnePlus Mini. It features single rear camera with LED flash that is clear from the back design.

OnePlus X (OnePlus Mini) Technical Specifications

With regard to its technical specifications, OnePlus mini is expected to feature a 5 inches Full HD display, 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front camera, 2GB RAM, 16/32 GB ROM with MicroSD card slot, Mediatek Helio X10 Chipset, PowerVR G6200 GPU and around 2900 mAh battery.

OnePlus X is expected to be priced between $230 to $250. If there are various storage versions, price will change accordingly. Existing OnePlus 2 costs $329 for 16GB variant, so this may suite those who have tight budget.

OnePlus is not able to fulfill the order of its existing OnePlus 2 model, that has high demand and less supply. It has been made available in many countries, but only via invite. If someone wants to buy OnePlus 2 without invite, they end up paying more while buying from third party websites. Let’s hope they would have enough stock when OnePlus X is launched.
