Encrypting conversation is not a new thing in social media platform. iMessages already comes with this feature, and Telegram also provides end-to-end encryption for all messages sent or received on Telegram. Telegram is actually one step ahead in terms of security. Along with Message encryption, it also comes with the self destruction conversation feature, that doesn’t save any history of conversation.
After a long time, WhatsApp has also started encrypting messages. It happened suddenly without any notification or update. Last update for WhatsApp was released on March 29 for Android Platform, and on April 1 for iOS. They have added message encryption feature today (April 5). You don’t need to do anything to encrypt messages. WhatsApp users have already started receiving notification regarding message encryption. You may suddenly see the following message during conversation
Messages you send to this chat and calls are now secured with end-to-end encryption, which means WhatsApp and third parties can’t read or listen to them.
So anything you send now will be secured by end-to-end encryption, and even WhatsApp won’t have access to your conversation. Recently Apple vs FBI fight has raised data security issue where Apple Denied FBI to make any unlocking tool for iPhone. FBI unlocked the device though, and no one knows how.
There are many users who switched from WhatsApp to Telegram just because of encryption thing. If you are one of them, it could be a good news for you.
