Sony has finally decided to launch Z5 series devices in the US. Unlocked version of Xperia Z5 and Z5 compact will be available in the US starting from February 7, but they will support GSM network only. Sony has said nothing about the Xperia Z5 Premium, so it may not arrive in the US. Xperia Z5 Premium is the world’s first smartphone that comes with 4K resolution (only for video play), standard resolution is still 1080 pixels.

No Finger Print Scanner for US users

Sony Xperia Z5 series Smartphones was launched with Finger Print Scanner, that is located on the Power Button. So we expected to arrive the Xperia Z5 and Z5 compact with same specs and design in the US as well. However, Sony has informed The Verge that Xperia Z5 and Z5 compact will not feature a Finger Print Scanner for its US models.

Well, Sony doesn’t have a good record of selling Xperia devices in the US. It’s been more than 4 months when Xperia Z5, Z5 Compact and Z5 Premium was announced, and after a long period of waiting time, they decided to launch their high-end models with Snapdragon 810 when devices with Snapdragon 820 would also arrive in February 2016. On top of that removing Finger Print Sensor even made it worst. However, Xperia Z5 has been reported to be the best camera phone according to DxOMark.

It was reported earlier that Sony Chief Executive Kazuo Hirai has given one more year to Xperia’s Smartphone business to prove itself. If Xperia Phone business keep generating loss, they may exit smartphone manufacturing business, and we may not see any Xperia Z7. We are not sure if they really can prove something with such business strategy.
