Meizu has recently announced its mid-range smartphone “Meizu M3 Note.” The device comes with a great design and very competitive price. In terms of pricing, design and specs, Xiaomi is a true competitor. Some users might get confused if they should buy Meizu or Xiaomi Smartphone. So I am going to compare Meizu M3 Note with 2 Xiaomi Smartphones; Redmi Note 3 and Redmi Note 3 Pro.

Meizu M3 Note vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 vs Redmi Note 3 Pro

Design

If you have seen Meizu Pro 5, you have seen Meizu M3 Note. It carries the same design, but it’s little thicker. M3 Note features 153.6 x 75.5 x 8.2 mm dimension compared to 150 x 76 x 8.7 mm for Redmi Note 3 and its Pro edition. All three models feature full metal aluminum body, and they all look quite similar in terms of design. All three models are available in three colors; Gold, Space Gray and Silver. Meizu M3 Note weighs 163 grams compared to 164 grams weight for both the Xiaomi Smartphones. Screen-to-body ratio for Meizu M3 Note is 71.2% whereas Redmi Note 3 and Redmi Note 3 has it 72.4%.

All three models are almost equal, so there is nothing here that can attract more users to an individual brand as far as design is concerned.

Display

All three models feature 5.5-inch Full HD Display (1920 x 1080 pixels), but Meizu comes with Dinorex T2X-1 scratch and shock resistant glass. Both the Xiaomi mobiles lack protection for the display.

Meizu M3 Note is the winner here if you want to protect display from scratches without any protection. However, if you are among those who apply tempered glass on display, it should not make any difference for you.

Camera

Meizu M3 Note and Redmi Note 3 features almost the same camera. Both come with 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-LED Flash and f/2.2 Aperture. Redmi Note 3 Pro features a 16-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 Aperture and dual-LED Flash. All the models can record 1080 pixels video @ 30 frames per second. All of them feature 5-megapixel front shooter with f/2.0 Aperture.

Remi Note 3 Pro is the winner here, if you are looking for a mid-range phone with a powerful rear camera.

RAM and Storage

All models come in 2 variant; 16GB ROM + 2GB RAM or 32GB ROM + 3GB RAM. However, Redmi Note 3 lacks MicroSD Card Slot. Meizu M3 Note and Redmi Note 3 Pro both support up to 128GB MicroSD.

If you need More Storage go for Redmi Note 3 Pro or Meizu M3 Note only.

CPU, GPU and OS

Meizu M3 Note features Mediatek Helio P10 MT6755 CPU and Mali-T860MP2 GPU. Redmi Note 3 comes with Mediatek Helio X10 CPU and PowerVR G6200 GPU, and Redmi Note 3 Pro features Snapdragon 650 CPU and Adreno 510 GPU. All the model run Android Lollipop OS so far.

Redmi Note 3 Pro is the winner here if you need the best System and Graphic performance. Redmi Note 3 holds the second position, and Meizu M3 Note is the loser. You can check the performance score below in benchmark comparison.

CPU Benchmark (Geekbench 3)

GeekBench 3 Performance Score

Single-core

Redmi Note 3 Pro : 1614

Redmi Note 3 : 865

Meizu M3 Note : 817

Multi-core

Redmi Note 3 Pro : 4054

Redmi Note 3 : 4595

Meizu M3 Note : 3033

Meizu Note Pro is the winner here with almost double single-core score.

GPU Benchmark (GFXBench)

Like CPU, Redmi Note 3 Pro also leads in GPU Benchmark followed by Redmi Note 3 and Meizu M3 Note. Have a look at the images in slideshow to compare the GPU benchmark score

Battery and Fast Charging

Redmi Note 3 Pro and Redmi Note 3 both features 4000 mAh battery and also supports fast charging. Meizu M3 Note features 4100 mAh battery, and doesn’t support fast charging.

Finger Print Scanner

I am not sure about others, but I personally hate Finger Print Scanner on rear panel. All three models feature Finger Print Scanner, but Meizu M3 Note is the only one that features it on front panel, integrated with home button.

Other features (Radio, Infrared Port and Bluetooth)

Both the Xiaomi Smartphones feature Bluetooth version 4.1, FM Radio and Infrared Port. However, Meizu doesn’t come with Infrared Port and FM Radio, and its bluetooth version is 4.0. If you care about such features, you should skip Meizu M3 Note.

Pricing

2GB RAM + 16GB ROM

Redmi Note 3 Pro : 999 Chinese Yuan (around $155)

Redmi Note 3 : 899 Chinese Yuan (around $139)

Meizu M3 Note : 799 Chinese Yuan (around $124)

3GB RAM + 32GB ROM

Redmi Note 3 Pro : 1199 Chinese Yuan (around $186)

Redmi Note 3 : 1099 Chinese Yuan (around $170)

Meizu M3 Note : 999 Chinese Yuan (around $155)

Meizu M3 Note has the lowest price tag, but it comes at the cost of lowered CPU, GPU and Camera performance. So all the devices have fair price tag depending on their specification. You can by any depending on your budget and need.
