HTC One X9 is still in rumor and HTC launched a different model. HTC has launched a downgraded version of its existing HTC One M9 that will be marketed as HTC One M9s. Some companies launch upgraded version when they add “S” in model number, but HTC does it in its own way. However, remember that HTC One M9s is not HTC One X9, because the design is quite different.
HTC has already launched many versions of M9 series, like HTC One M9, HTC One M9+, HTC One M9+ Supreme Camera Edition, but now they have launched one with lower price tag. However, HTC has used the same chip found in M9+ and Supreme Camera Edition, but downgraded some other specs to make it affordable.
HTC One M9s Technical Specifications
HTC One M9s features a 5 inches Full HD (1080p) display, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage that can be expanded up to 2TB with MicroSD card, 13-megapixel rear camera with dual-LED flash and f/2.0 aperture, Ultrapixel front camera (4-megapixel), octa-core 2.2 GHz Mediatek Helio X10 chipset,PowerVR G6200, HTC Boom Sound, 2840 mAh battery etc..
HTC One M9s Pricing and Release/Availability
HTC One M9 comes in the same metal body, just like HTC One M9, but because of downgraded specs it costs TWD 12900 (around $394). It is available to preorder now in Taiwan, but the shipment will start from 21 November. HTC has not said anything about the international launch, so it may or may not arrive in other market.
In terms of performance, HTC One M9s will perform smoothly, but the price tag may drive many user away from this device. If you are looking for the same Mediatek chip, resolution and camera quality, Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 2 costs only $141, and 32GB variant costs $156 only. If you are looking for a better one Xiaomi Mi 4c with Snapdragon 808 chip, 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM costs only $204, or you can also get Mi 4c with 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM for $236. Even you import from international websites, it should cost around $260. So HTC One M9s has doesn’t seem worth enough to spend $394 just because of the metal body.
