If you have a computer or laptop and you want to use your system as a WiFi hotspot, you can do it easily without using any application. I have used connectify in the past, and it makes the booting slow each time you start your computer and it’s not free as well. Most of the virtual routers are chargable after the trial period. I am not sure about other operating systems but the trick works fine in Windows 7, 64 and 32 bit. You just need to have WiFi adaptor on your computer.

Here is the step by step guide:

* First of all, you need to, click on Start button and type “cmd” then you will find the result “cmd OR cmd.exe.” You need to click the right button of the mouse and run it as administrator.

Note: Don’t open it through run, because it wont allow you to do what you want to.

* Now you have the command screen in front of you, just type this command there:

netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=YourWiFiNetworkName key=YourPassword

Now, press Enter.

Note: in ssid, please type the network name you wish to have, and in Key, type the password you wish to use to login in your created wifi network

* You have created the WiFi network, now it’s time to turn it on. If you are still in the command section, that’s good. If you are not open the command section in the same way you did earlier as a Administrator, and then type this command:

netsh wlan start hostednetwork

Now, Press Enter. You are done.

Now, open the Network and Sharing Center (Start–> Control Pannel–> Network and Internet–> Network and Sharing Center) and then at the left hand side you will get the option “Change Adaptor Setting.” Click on it, and then click the right mouse key your network (there will not be any red cross on your internet), and then click on properties. Please select sharing option from the tab and then check the box to allow other computers to connect to your created WiFi Network. Select the Network Connection, and then press Okay.

Note: in my case, I have a wired connection and in drop down box I got two options, Wireless Network Connection and Wireless Network Connection 2. The first option didn’t work for me but the second option did. So, if you have more options, you can try with both one by one.

One more thing, when you turn off you WiFi or restart your computer, your created WiFi might get turned off, and then you need to open command section as a administrator as we discussed at the start, and then type this command only.

netsh wlan start hostednetwork
