If you are using a laptop or computer, you need to know how to check some basic information on your system. All apps or games can’t be installed in each and every computer. There are some requirements which need to be met before you install them. For instance, If you want to install HD games, like FIFA, NFS, Black Ops, etc., your computer needs to meet the requirement of processor, RAM, graphic card, direct X etc. So, it’s better to know what app or game is compatible with your system and buy/install it to save yourself from future hassles. It can also help you if you are going to buy a new computer, because you need to know about your requirement before you buy a system.

Let’s know where to find that information on your computer (Windows 7)?

All these information are based on Windows 7, but most of these will work on Windows 8 as well.

  • If you want to check the RAM, Service Pack, Processor, System Type (64/32 bit), OS Type (Ultimate/Pro/Home) and License, you need to go to my computer (Shortcut: Windows Key+E), and then press the right button of the mouse on any blank space, then click Properties. You can see all those details at one place. There is another way to check If you want to go via control Panel, follow this: Control Panel–> System and Security–> System. 

 

  • Game lovers always need to know what version of Direct X their systems have? If you want to check this, go to Run (Shortcut: Windows key+R), and type “dxdiag” click Ok or press Enter. There are different tabs over there. You would be on “System tab” by default. This is what you need. Here you can check Direct X Version as well as BIOS version, Graphic/Video Card detail and other system information. You can also use different tabs to check other information. 

 

  • Checking the IP information on your computer: Go to Run (Windows key+R) –> Type “cmd”–> Press Enter Key–> type “ipconfig” in the command. 

 

  • Checking the temporary files and cleaning them to boost the system speed: Again, go to Run–> Type %temp%”–> Press OK–> Select all (ctrl+a) –>Press Del (to send those files to the trash) or press Shift+Del (delete permanently). **All the files can’t be deleted, so you need to skip whenever it’s required.” 

 

  • Checking the Remote access information, whether it’s enabled or not: Go to My Computer–> Click the right button of the mouse–> then Click Properties–> click Remote Settings (left hand side of the properties window). You can enable or disable it from here. 

 

  • If you want to check what drivers you have installed on your computer, and they are working fine or not, you need to press windows key or click windows icon, then type Device Manager, and then click on Device Manager. This will open a new window which will show that information. If you see the “Yellow Sign”  on any installed driver, this means those are not working properly or needs to be updated.
