Google has unveiled its latest Nexus device, the Nexus 6. This time the Nexus is not with LG, but Motorola that Google sold earlier to Lenovo. We will see significant improvement in the specification sheet compared to Nexus 5 . The smartphone is highly recommended for all those seeking a high-end mobile with the latest version of Android OS, Android Lollipop. The Nexus devices are the proposals that Google shows each year with a clean version of their software for phones and tablets. Apparently the rumors that the next version od Nexus would be called Nexus X was not true.

Display and Design

Nexus 6 comes as a compact and stylish smartphone, casing in navy or white. It also has a silver trim around the entire phone . This will make it more durable and easy to grip. The dimensions of this device are 159.26 x 82.98 x 10.06 mm and weighs 184 grams, making sure it will fit into our pockets despite its size. Nexus 6 has an architecture manufactured with plastic, but with a soft touch matte finish. It features two front speakers.

As we know the best selling smartphone these days are those which comes with at least 5.5-inch display, So now Nexus 6 has got even a larger display which is 5.96 inches AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, which makes it a phablet, and features a qHD resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels with 493 ppi pixel density, which will ensure us a great display quality. The protective panel is provided by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, a super-resistant to shock and scratches.

Camera

One of the points that has been improved the most compared to its predecessor is in the camera. Nexus 6 features a 13-megapixel primary camera with dual LED flash ring to make the night shots as sharp as possible. The camera also comes with Optical Image Stablization (OIS), and it can record videos in 4K resolution, which you won’t find with most of the smartphone. Its front has 2-megapixel so you can perform all selfies, and make video calls via third party applications like Hangouts or Skype. The other functions of its Camera are the autofocus, face detection, panoramic, photo sphere, HDR mode and image editor.

Processor, Memory and OS

The Nexus 6 comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 Quad Core Processor running at the speed of 2.7 GHz. This chip was introduced in February this year and the chip is amazing, we can certainly say that this is one of the best chip you can find in the market. This one is accompanied by Adreno 420 graphics. Nexus 6 features 3 GB RAM that can make the users do multitasking smoothly.

In terms of internal memory , the smartphone comes with 16 or 32 gigabytes, and it depends on users what version they want. However, this does not have microSD slot to expand it, you can always save your files to cloud storage system, such as Dropbox, One Drive or Google Drive.

As usual, the Nexus 6 debuts the new version of the Goole operating system for phones and tablets: Android Lollipop. Applications like Gmail, YouTube and Google Calendar will look much more minimalist than we already use. The animation software are a major point of Android Lollipop, since everything moves smoothly at multiple levels, as if they were layers of content. Another improvement of the software are the notifications, now the notification is accessible from the lock screen. It will improve the performance through the ART system , which already premiered with KitKat.

Connectivity and autonomy

Another strong point of this device is its connectivity. The Nexus 6 has 4G , so you can browse high speed internet as well as NFC and mobile payments. It also comes with other basic connectivities like WiFi, so you can connect to wireless networks, Bluetooth 4.1 as well as GPS, so do not miss your road trips. It also has a port for 3.5 mm mini jack for using headphones. The phone comes with a battery of 3,220 mAh, which will involve a range of about 24 hours of talk time and about ten hours connection to an LTE network which is not bad for a device with 6-inch qHD display.

The device will be available in the first quarter of 2015, but we don’t have any information about the price at this time.
