A lawsuit was filed against Apple claiming that Messages sent from iOS users not getting delivers to Android Phones. This issue was with those users who switched to Android from iOS device.

When Apple discovered that two of three Plaintiffs has switched from iPhone to Android, they requested to dismiss the case, because they were not able to demonstrate whether text is being sent to iPhone or Android Phone. Apple was not reported that they are not taking this bug seriously as the users were switching to iPhone, and the issue remained there from 2012 to untilĀ 2014 when Apple introduced a fix for the bug.

However, US Disctrict Judge, Lucy H. Koh has dismissed the case with these sentence;

The Court has granted the Motion for Summary Judgment filed by Defendant Apple Inc. See ECF No. 112. Accordingly, the Clerk of the Court shall enter judgment in favor of Defendant. The Clerk shall close the file. IT IS SO ORDERED

The case of iMessage was like your postal address. When you have old postal address in record, they keep sending you post to the same address even you have moved to somewhere else. So you need to tell what your current address is. If those users had deactivated iMessage from mobile number before switching to Android Phone, it wouldn’t have happened.

So when you want a number to use by Android Phone, and you are switching from iPhone, don’t forget to deactivate iMessage to avoid trouble.
