Apple recently delivered iPhone 6s, and it scored surprisingly high in Geekbench 3 benchmark performance test. The new iPhone 6s and 6s plus usage Apple A9 chipset, but did you know how it could be that much faster to score over 2500 in single-core performance? 2500 is something you can’t get from any chipset, can you? May be in 2016, but not now. Apple was rumored to build A9 chip based on 14nm FinFET tech, and that turned out true.

The first Apple A9 benchmark score was around 2300 in single core performance, and now see, it can even go over 2500.

iFixit disassembled the latest iPhone 6s rose gold, and has given the full detailed information on its chip. iPhone 6s usage Samsung’s 2GB LPDDR4 RAM, Toshiba NAND Flash, Apple A9 APL0898 SoC and Qualcomm MDM9635M LTE Cat. 6 Modem. Now a Weibo user broke the news that Original manufacturer of APL0898 is Samsung, and it is based on 14nm FinFET.

Apple A9 features a dual-core 1.8 GHz Processor, but LPDDR4 RAM and 14nm FinFET technology helped it to perform much faster compared to its predecessor. iPhone 6s has only one noticeable downgrade, and it is its battery. It features a 1750 mAh battery compared to 1810 in iPhone 6. It is because if the 3D touch feature that made Apple to trim the battery to keep the phone is shape.

After disassembling the iPhone 6s, iFixit gave it score 7 out of 10, where 10 mean easiest to repair. I don’t really think any phones score 10 these days. All brands are trying to keep their smartphone as thinner as possible, and this makes the repair difficult for sure. If you want to check full tear down, you can visit iFixit.

Update: Only Samsung made A9 chip is based on FinFET, TSMC made chip is based on 16nm FinFET tech.
